Hello there! I’m Jen Hanni, proud owner of Jen Hanni Photography.

I look forward to sharing my story of how I decided to begin working as a professional photographer.

Several years ago, my husband’s business had a pretty significant setback. After some prayer and some soul-searching, I decided to use that time as an opportunity to pursue one of my passions - photography. Although I have a degree in journalism and worked as a journalist for local newspapers and magazines for twenty years, I relished the photography aspect more than the writing. I gained experience in photography for several years before going pro five years ago, but to hone my skills further, I took up several professional photography classes.

I’ve been taking pictures for families for many years, but turning my passion into a profession was absolutely thrilling for me. Over the past five years, my business has grown at a wonderful rate and it’s exciting to own a thriving business! Most of my business is word-of-mouth through friends and promotions on social media, however, referrals are such a big compliment, and I get a lot of those too.

I absolutely love helping female teens and brides to feel great about themselves. I think that is part of the reason I get such a big following with graduation pictures and weddings. I love the joy they feel when they get their pictures back and feel so pretty and good about themselves. I always make a challenge to get to know the girls on a personal level and gain an understanding of what makes them feel beautiful. It’s always so rewarding to me.

With family portraits of young families, I love the challenge of getting the crying little one smiling when parents have all but given up! It’s important to note that parents often leave thinking their child never smiled… but they don’t realize I caught a glimpse of a smile! Smiles through tears are seriously some of my favorite smiles I capture on camera!

I believe it is important to cover every aspect of photography to provide the best portraits possible; the best lighting, posing, camera settings, and editing money can buy. Then, making sure the customers are always fully satisfied with their pictures after the editing process is complete. I will edit as many times as they’d like until the client is thrilled with the results.

I love to make everyone feel special and am really good at speaking up to get a large group to listen, but in a very respectful manner. Moreover, the results speak for themselves. Photography is my absolute passion, so taking the time to make them outstanding does not feel difficult for me because I TRULY love every minute of it.

While absolute passion and people skills are my secrets to success, compliments also drive me to keep performing. One of the most gratifying moments was when I received many compliments for my photography at a home show at the Sandy Expo Center. It also means so much to me when I get responses from customers that they are so happy with their results.

When I am not at work, I love to be with my amazing spouse and children. We like to go boating, play racquetball, ski, and travel and play games… especially when my family is with me!

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
